PHILIP ISLAND – AUSTRALIA

The Cutest Parade: Blue penguins also called “ Ferry Penguins”

Known for its natural beauty “Australia” is a sought-after destination. “The Last Land “before Antarctica, in Victoria, is undoubtedly one of the country’s most scenic locations. With incredible beaches, natural beauty, and farmlands, “Phillip Island”  in Australia in the state of Victora is a popular holiday destination for Victorians escaping the city,

People in Australia are crazy about the outdoors, and why not, the Southern Ocean blesses the country with white sandy beaches wetlands, sanctuaries, and tranquil woodlands.

Philip Island- Australia

Today we are on our day trip to the “PHILIP ISLAND”. It’s a rainy day, and as we pull out of the drive, the skies threaten us with their mood. But we are undeterred. Along with the rains we reach SAN REMO a Coastal Town before we cross over the bridge to head towards the Philip Islands.

But San REMOS ‘first glimpse takes our breadth away. This tranquil town with its beautiful Oceanic view, and cafes, full of beach lovers and surfers is abuzz waiting for the rain to subside.

Students’s day out

A group of special children on their day picnic, and a family with toddlers give us company for breakfast. Super excited to reach the Island, the first sign board, makes our eyes go wide and faces erupt with smiles,” Drive Slow, Wildlife ahead”. Our adventure begins by looking deep into the outcrop and the jet-black road.

Australia is a land of abundance, in terms of natural beauty, vast grassland, and sparse population. Majorly the flora is succulents and much of the fauna synergies with the color of nature.

Keeping a watch on either side we are rewarded early with goose-like birds, which we encountered throughout the day.

Birds in Australia are loud, crocking, and ferocious but I didn’t experience that, but as a caution kept my distance.

The most amazing coastline @ Philip Island- Near Melbourne

“Philip Island” located on the west coast of Australia is named after Governor “Arthur Philip”.

Enchanted with the wildlife around, we forget the kilometers and eventually land at this beautiful cove-shaped naturally formed beach with golden sand, volcanic black rocks, lush succulents, and an Aqua expanse of ocean.

It’s partially cloudy and the glorious sun is trying to peek through the clouds casting its magnificent rays on the Ocean. I might fall short of words to describe it, it’s the QUA moment for us.

This magical place called “Philip Island” on this day had high winds blowing from the ocean with 10 degrees of temperature. We forget the natural climatic conditions as we lose ourselves in this picture-perfect landscape of nature.

Shivering through the bones as the chilly winds sweep us, we are stuck and unable to move as we drink in the beauty. “Philip Island” makes an Impression that is stuck in my mind and will be there forever.

The NOBBIES

The Nobbies at Philip Island host the Antarctica journey. The Indoor space is aesthetically created and gives us a glimpse of the Antarctic at the south pole. Just 4000km away from where we stood and let me tell you it’s thrilling.

At the entrance of the Arena, I get to see these cute little penguin models wrapped in woolens, and it’s cute. The Reason– the  Penguin sweaters are for sale and can be taken as souvenirs as the proceeds go to the park’s sustainability.

Much science about geography, life in Antarctica, expeditions, and biodiversity can be experienced at “The NOBBIES” and you feel humbled and enriched.

The Journey of Antarctica

The enthralling sound space with roof-touching screens brings the Antarctic experience to life with a lot of value addition for every age of traveler. With questions crowding our minds, capturing every detail and observing closely all that is on display, with the thought that I am Just 4000km away is enriching.

The Nobbies has amazing broad walks, and underneath the boardwalks, local species thrive in the bushes, this Island is known for reptiles. Small homes are made for them and we are watchful on the boardwalk for a glimpse. They seem to be an important stakeholder in this part of the world.

The broad walks at Nobbies kept us attentive as wallabies and snakes, and somewhere on an island in the ocean, the seals could be spotted. The coves and watering holes made by natural insertions beautify the otherwise naturally beautiful surroundings.

KOALA Conservation Park.

High up a napping KOALA, cute trying to adjust his chubby being on an otherwise petite branch of a eucalyptus tree, we croon our necks for a better glimpse and are half successful.

These are places to be experienced and not visited. Just visiting them is not enough and you feel Incomplete until you haven’t experienced it. So much importance to every breathing being is given it is overwhelming. Thrilled to enter these natural habitat spaces created to conserve the diminishing species.

“Ferry Penguins “

The wetland sanctuaries around have a good population of wallabies and they keep us entertained for quite some time till it’s time to head to the Summerland Beach for the much-awaited Penguin Parade, the premier attraction amidst the spectacular display of Colors of the sunset.

The Stunning Sun Set @ The Philip Island- Australia – near Melbourne

The Summerland Beach on “Philip Island is known for its penguin parade. Some 32,000 blue-collared penguins walk the beach, waddling to their burrows as the sky fades away the colors of the sunset.

From red to orange as you watch the sun go behind the horizon, in hushed voices of the crowd, the parade begins, it’s majestic and unbelievable to see as they disembark, wait for companions to join, and together walk towards their shelters in the outcrop. The discipline is commendable.

The tourists are unable to leave them, until it’s dark they make sure penguins have reached their holes and then leave for their homes. Camera use is restricted to make their walk back home smooth and safe, hence the pictures are rare.

It’s The cutest parade seen till now … the armed forces come much after that.

The day comes to an end at the super parks at “Philip Island”, it’s time to head towards Melbourne.

“Philip island is close enough to Melbourne, but far enough for a day’s escape. It’s a day of experiencing it all, magnificent Surf at RIP CURL, Captivating Coastline, and Enthralling biodiversity, It’s also very famous for its motor circuit arena.

My takeaway along with all others is the Cute Penguin Parade. “Philip Island”  needs to be experienced, there is much more to do feel, and take away than just a visit.
